Rubber Plant

Description

Durable and easy to care for, rubber plant is a bold tree that sports large rubbery leaves on stems as straight as exclamation points. Numerous varieties with slightly varied coloration exist. Expect lower leaves to drop over time.

Light

Expose to medium light for best growth. Tolerates low light. Grows well if under artificial light 16 hours a day.

Water

Allow soil to dry out between thorough watertings. Mist frequently. Raise humidity.

Soil

A good general purpose potting soil will suffice. Check purchased soil to see that it is well aerated and add sand or perlite and peat moss if it seems to pack too tightly. Give the plants a chance to settle in before going back to whatever fertilization program has been successful for you.
