Trees for Troops FAQ

What is the Trees for Troops Program?

Trees for Troops is a program that honors military men and women and their families by providing them with a Real Christmas Tree. Christmas Tree growers around the country donate the trees while FedEx provides shipping and logistics coordination.

How and when did the Trees for Troops
Program get started?

The Trees for Troops program was a concept that Christmas Tree growers had envisioned for a long time. Some states were already providing trees to military bases on a smaller scale including Ohio’s Operation Evergreen which sent trees overseas.

The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and FedEx began discussions about the program and in 2005, the first program was arranged and implemented in just 45 days!

How many Trees get delivered?

Last year there were 16,846 trees delivered to troops and their families! The trees were donated from over 750 tree farmers and over 40 retail locations and farms like Mahoney's in 29 different states. They were delivered to 37 military bases in the United States and 15 US Military bases in foreign countries.

How much of the donations received by the
Foundation actually go towards programs?

95% of all contributions go towards implementing programs for the Foundation.
