A new organic lawn care service now offered by Mahoney’s, SafeLawns is an effective organic alternative to synthetic chemical lawn services that’s safe for kids, pets and the environment.
The Mahoney’s SafeLawns Difference
Mahoney’s SafeLawns and Landscapes lawn service is different than any other lawn service because we use SafeTea™ to rehabilitate lifeless soils. Unlike other compost teas, SafeTea™ is a living liquid biological amendment that is full of beneficial micro-organisms which go directly into your soil and jump-start your soil’s ecosystem.
Mahoney’s SafeLawns Services
Each program begins with a site visit from our SafeLawns representitive to examine lawn conditions and discuss program options. Soil samples are also collected and sent to the lab for a comprehensive soil analysis. Described below are the 2 lawn care service programs that we offer.
Standard Soil HealthCare Program
- 6 timed applications of organic fertilizers, soil conditioners, and SafeTea™, our living biological soil amendment to promote lush green grass naturally.
Premium Soil HealthCare Program
- 8 Lawn Care Visits, Including 6 SafeTea™ Applications: Eight timed applications of organic fertilizers, soil conditioners, and SafeTea™, our living biological soil amendment to promote lush green grass, naturally.
- Insect and Disease Management: Spot treatment of surface feeding insects and grubs, and common lawn diseases as necessary.
Additionally, we also offer SafeTea™ drenches to enhance the effectiveness of 4-step lawn fertilizers.

Our professional planting service provides expert installation of trees and shrubs purchased from any of our stores. With years of landscaping experience, our planting staff has the knowledge and the resources to make sure that your plants are installed properly.
Planting Service Guarantee
Proper installation is critical to the success of any new plant. We choose all of our plants with care and we stand by our work. We back our plantings with our 1 year guarantee covering plant, labor and planting material costs.
If you notice a problem with your plant material, immediately contact Mahoney’s Nursery Department.Please have your invoice number ready.
If the plant should die we will replace the same plant (if available) or a new plant of your choice at equal value. One time only replacement
Mahoney’s Planting staff reserves the right to refuse to plant. If the site is not suitable they will make every effort to recommend a better area. If this cannot be done, a refund will be applied.
Labor and Planting Materials
In order to give your plants the best chance of survival we will amend your soil to give proper drainage, moisture retention, aeration and nutrients. To encourage healthy root growth we also apply a root stimulating beneficial mycorrhizal fungi, along with Hydrogel to ensure good moisture retention. We also stake trees as needed.
Planting Service Fee
Planting service fee is equal to the total cost of the trees and shrubs being planted. A minimum purchase of $100.00 in plant material is required.

Delivery
Mahoney’s Garden Center’s convenient, comprehensive delivery service takes the stress out of transporting your purchases to your home, business or job site. Our experienced drivers are skilled at moving large trees as well as delicate floral arrangements. We’ll make sure your purchases are delivered quickly, safely and undamaged.
We offer delivery for almost any product we sell to any town or city in Eastern, MA. For purchases made in-store, deliveries can be scheduled at the time of purchase. Most local deliveries can be scheduled any day except Sundays, and depending on the season can be delivered within 1 or 2 days.
Bulk products
Delivery of bulk products like mulch, loam, compost and can be arranged over the phone or in-store at our Winchester, Falmouth, Tewksbury and Chelmsford locations. Bulk products are delivered in dump trucks and will gladly deliver to any accessible location*.
* Accessible locations include driveways and private parking lots that are paved and have no obstructing wires or tree limbs. Delivery of bulk items cannot be made to any unpaved or obstructed locations. (Sidewalks, streets, over walls, back yards etc.)
Floral Arrangements
Custom floral arrangements can be ordered for delivery over the phone or in store from any of our full-service florists in our Winchester, Tewksbury, Chelmsford and Wayland locations. Floral arrangements can often be delivered the same day as they’re ordered depending on the time of day and the size of the order.
Delivery Pricing
Our delivery fees are affordably-priced and are based on the distance from our store to the delivery site as well as the product being delivered. For most items there is a small minimum purchase required for delivery. For more information and specific delivery pricing, please call your nearest Mahoney’s Garden Center location.
Landscape Design
Mahoney’s Garden Centers now offer affordable, professional landscape design services to help you create a beautiful landscape that will thrive in your location. We offer two service options, In-Store Design Consult and At-Home Design Consult.

At-Mahoney’s Design Consultation
Take pictures and measurements for the project area such as a pool area, a backyard or a front foundation planting. Call Mahoney’s Landscape Design Department to schedule a hour and a half appointment with an on-staff designer. Using the pictures and measurements, the designer will work with you to draw up a scale diagram and select the right plants for your taste, budget and location. We will give you the plan and the plant list. This type of consult is appropriate for smaller projects and simple site conditions.
price
$150, with a $100 rebate on a $500 material purchase made within a year of the consultation.
At-Home Design Consultation
Call Mahoney’s Landscape Design Department to arrange for an on-staff designer to meet with you at the site, discuss the scope of the project, take measurements and pictures. The designer will draw up a plan with a plant and materials list and schedule a follow-up appointment in the Winchester location to review the plan and the plant materials. This type of consult is appropriate for larger projects, difficult site conditions such as steep slopes, unusual urban conditions, or large quantities of ledge. It also works for the customer who does not feel comfortable doing the pictures or measurements.
price
$375 for initial consult (3 hour minimum charge), $75/hour thereafter. There is a $100 rebate rebate on a $500 material purchase within a year of the consultation.
