WHY MULCH?
Mulching helps retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, regulate soil temperature, and protect against erosion. As organic mulch breaks down, it also adds nutrients back into the soil—improving soil structure over time. Mulch is available in both bulk and bagged formats; bagged mulch is ideal for smaller beds or hard-to-reach areas, while bulk is more cost-effective for larger projects.
HOW TO CALCULATE:
Measure your bed’s length and width in feet.
Choose your desired depth of coverage (typically 2–3 inches).
Use the calculator to determine the total volume in cubic yards, cubic feet, or bags.
QUICK TIP:
One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet. A 100 sq ft bed at 3 inches deep needs about 0.75 cubic yards, or roughly 13.5 bags of mulch if each bag contains 2 cubic feet.
HAVE AN IRREGULAR SPACE?
Break it into smaller rectangles and calculate each section separately—then add the totals. The calculator helps ensure precise coverage even for complex garden layouts.
